Maspalomas International Carnival 2024

Welcome to a journey through the vibrant Maspalomas International Carnival 2024!

Located on the beautiful island of Gran Canaria, this festival is a unique celebration of the carnival feel of the islands. The Maspalomas International Carnival is known for its festive atmosphere and spectacular parades full of colour and creativity. This year, visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in an unrivalled cultural experience with a wide range of exciting events, with the allegory 'Television Memories', the masqueraders want to evoke times gone by.

One of the highlights of the Carnival is the Grand Parade, where elaborately decorated floats travel through the streets of Maspalomas, accompanied by dancers and music that enliven the streets with exotic rhythms and infectious energy. This parade is a real feast for the senses, with flashy costumes and an atmosphere of joy that is contagious to all those present, who do not hesitate to follow the floats to the rhythm throughout the parade that takes place in the area of Playa del Inglés.

As well as the parade, you can enjoy a series of galas and themed events celebrating cultural diversity. From music and dance performances to fancy dress competitions, there is something for all tastes and ages.

Maspalomas International Carnival is also known for its spectacular Carnaval de Noche (Night Carnival), also known as Mogollones, where on various stages music beats until the early hours of the morning. This is the perfect occasion to immerse yourself in the nightlife of the south of Gran Canaria and change the atmosphere depending on the area: djs, verbena music...

For those looking for a more authentic experience, Carnival also offers a series of traditional events, such as the rescue (15/03) and subsequent burning of La Sardina (17/03) which marks the end of the festivities with fireworks and beach celebrations such as the Carnavales al Sol con los 40 (15/03). This last event brought together more than 8,000 people in Playa del Inglés (Annex II) to the rhythm of the best DJs in Spain on a day marked by good weather, the sea and the best music.

But if we talk about the most awaited events, we tell you in detail the three best ones.

On 14/03 the Gala of vindication s awaits us: Maspalomas Drag Queen Gala with 12 participants who will leave no one indifferent with their performances. On 25 centimetre platforms, our drag queens will show us pirouettes, twerking and a lot of criticism in which they will also change their costumes during the performance. Who will win the sceptre? Don't miss it!

On the other hand, you can't miss Carnival Queen Gala (09/03) where the beauty and elegance of our 10 contestants combine in a night of pure majesty. Contestants compete for the title of Carnival Queen in elaborate and dazzling costumes as they parade across the stage with grace and style. This is your chance to witness the crowning of a real carnival queen and immerse yourself in the charm and sophistication of this unique event.

And last but not least, get ready to be transported to a world of fantasy and fun at the Gran Cabalgata (parade) of International Maspalomas Carnival on Saturday 16/03. Starting at 17:00, this epic parade is the highlight of the carnival, with up to 100 impressive floats, extravagant costumes and a celebratory atmosphere filling the streets of Maspalomas. Join the party as you dance to the music and admire the incredible creations paraded before your eyes.
